I do stuff with HTML/CSS/JavaScript on the front end, PHP/MySQL on the back end, and if pressed, XML/XSLT.
I got all lazy with this site and built it in WordPress using the Strawberry Blend theme (with a few minor tweaks). It’s the same color as my kitchen.
When I’m not doing crazy web dev stuff, I love to cook, and I love to throw parties. I ride my bike around a lot (just got a much-needed upgrade – check it out). I’m generally kind of a homebody, but I do love to go camping when I can (tough without a car, but we make it happen). I tend to do a lot of technical reading and learning about coding-related stuff on my own time, and a little volunteering, too – Roslindale Green & Clean’s site was all done on a volunteer basis, and this year, I did New England GiveCamp for the first time.
Since people seem to ask it a lot, one of my favorite things to cook is Vietnamese & Thai food. I love making pho from scratch when I have the time, I make summer rolls whenever I have an excuse, and there happens to be a place not far from my house where you can get fresh rice noodles for Pad Kee Mao. I also love cooking/baking challenges – I’ve made my own croissants, a mille-feuille cake (puff pastry made from scratch, too), and profiteroles, among other things. Most of the time, though, I’m a pot-o-beans and mess-o-greens person; I love going to the farmers market, cooking whatever I find there, and filling it out with a bunch of legumes and bacon.
Other than that, I love spending time with my boyfriend of 9 years and our two bad cats. All three of them are pretty great.
